    The Augusta Heritage Book is currently in progress. The book will be available in 1998. Our consultant with Walsworth is Shirley Johnson-Grose of Summersville WV. Check our Heritage Book web page. Visit Shirley Grose's web site for more information on the publisher and other works completed and in progress. Augusta Genealogical Society is the proud co-sponsor of this wonderful book.

    You are urged to submit your family story of 500 words or less free with one photo. One free family story per household, unless your ancestor was in Augusta prior to 1850, if so, an additional story of the pioneer ancestor may be submitted.

    We are also accepting stories of old forts, churches, and other historical places and events for inclusion in the Heritage Book. These topical stories are limited to 250 words, free, and one picture. For further detail go to the Heritage Book web page. Write or call for a brochure containing guidelines.

    Augusta County VAGenWeb Archives houses transcribed documents which are put up by genealogists. If you have such documents in your files you are urged to transcribe them and submit them to this project. Please transcribe wills, deeds, cemeteries, marriages, etc. and send them to Linda Lewis for inclusion.

    VAGenWeb Project Archives is a part of the USGenWeb Project. This is fast becoming the most useful site on the web for genealogists, we urge you to become involved in making this project more complete. The USGenWeb Project is currently seeking volunteers who are willing to submit transcribed censuses, this will encompass the entire US. If you have a transcribed census, or are willing to volunteer your time in transcribing a census, please let us know. This project is very worthwhile and is quite useful to genealogists.
